We at ASAP Environmental, Inc. appreciate this chance to introduce ourselves to you and offer our sevices regaring the
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule (RRP Rule) which goes into effect on April
22, 2010. I have included in this package some general information about the RRP Rule and a Complaince Guide to help you to better
understand the Rule.
New Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule (RRP Rule) goes into effect on April 22, 2010
Beginning in April 2010, federal law will require contractors that disturb lead-based paint in
homes, child care facilities and schools built before 1978 to be certified and follow specific work
practices to prevent lead contamination. Also, the EPA's information pamphlet, "Renovate Right",
must be distributed to tenants and/or owners of the property prior to beginning work.
Older homes, child care facilites and schools are more likely to contain Lead-based paint.
Surfaces that are determined to be fre of lead-based paint are exempt from the Rule. You have
three options to determine if the surfaces to be distributed contain lead based paint:
- You must assume that lead-based paint is present and follow lead-safe work practices
during the renovation, repair or painting job.
- You may also test for lead using a lead test kit approved by the EPA available at most
hardware stores
- You can hire a certified lead inspector or risk assessor to check for lead-based paint.
Our inspectors are certified to perform inspections and risk assessments by Massachusetts and New Hampshire. We also carry 2
Million dollars of insurance to protect against
Liability, Errors and Omissions. Pre-testing of surfaces and clearance dust samples is the best
solution for the protection of childer from lead poisoning and protecting you from libaility.
Depending on your needs, we can perform a Lead Determinination on specific surfaces you
may be distributing during the renovation, repair or painting project. We can also perform a Lead
Inspection/Risk Assessment of the entire housing unit including all common areas. This is a very comprehensive inspection
in which all surfaces are tested and documented on a report form.
ASAP Environmental, Inc. has performed over 20,000 lead paint inspections, risk
assessments, lead determinations, dust testing and clearances since its inception in 1993. We
have offices in Boston, Worcester, Rockland, Wakefield, Lawrence and Osterville, MA. Our main
